AcDelco packaging had not been touched in 60+ years and consumers were not aware AcDelco was a GM Genuine OE part. Suppliers around the world were doing their own thing when it came to design and logistically, the old system wasn’t working. Therefore, not only did we have to refresh the design but also come up with a system of rules and guidelines to keep global consistency as well as come up with design solutions to reduce overproduction of boxes.
The complete design overhaul prioritizes parity between parts and brands. It includes 9 languages, an icon family, a color and dot system and a 100 page book to educate others on how to keep the integrity of these two brands globally.
